Hello!

Welcome to A Pinch of This....Dash of That , a little bit about everything connected with cooking.

This is my journey through cooking the way it should be.....with real ingredients, tried and true techniques, and taking the good with the bad in one's culinary experiences. After all, sometimes in cooking, as in life, things don't always turn out exactly the way you planned. The key, as the song says, is to "pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again!"

My approach to cooking is one of three ways. First,  follow the recipe exactly.  Make no changes and play it safe. When making a recipe for the first time or in baking, this is my process. The second is to make a few additions that I feel inspired to make. Seasonings, spices, and occasionally the main ingredients are changed. The third way is to use the basic idea of the recipe. Measuring is out the window and random ingredients are added to whatever is being made. This usually happens in my  food experiments and when making sauces like spaghetti sauce.
